A Door County Memorial Day Weekend Signals the Start of Summer

A Door County spring is a beautiful thing to see and with Memorial Day Weekend on the horizon the managers of member properties of Door County Inns and Resorts have some recommendations for you all. Here goes:

From Missy LeBelle of High Point InnSunday Sing-Alongs at the Ephraim Village Hall – Sunday evenings mid June through July
The Ephraim Village Hall sits across Eagle Harbor from Peninsula State Park and is a bucolic setting for a tradition like community sing-alongs. Sponsored each summer by the Ephraim Historical Foundation, the Sunday Sing-Alongs are a great activity for the entire family.  The historic Ephraim Village Hall comes to life Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm mid-June through July with the sound of old-time songs, sung with gusto by over 250 voices each week!

From Sandy D’Amico of Newport Resort: Jeanne Kuhns’ Summer Concert Series - Friday nights June 22 – September 1 at Woodwalk Gallery
Jeanne has put together another stellar line-up from Chris Irwin and Krista Detor to Eli Mattson. Spend your summer Friday nights in this beautiful location with beautiful music.

From Amanda Kalms of Pheasant Park Resort: Waterfront activities in Sister Bay – All summer through Labor Day
Grab your sunscreen and head to the water in Sister Bay! Check out all the fun you can have in the clear, crisp water of Lake Michigan: swimming, sunning and horseplay for kids of all ages at the public beaches; kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding; sailboat rides and Sunset cruises; fishing off the docks and jet-skiing and boat charters.

From Kathy Beth at Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort: The Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair – Saturday – Sunday, May 26-27
As one of the first-of-the-season outdoor shows, the Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair is part of Door County’s month-long “Festival of Blossoms.” This juried art show features original works of nearly 90 Wisconsin & midwest artists in a wide variety of media including sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, fiber and photography; and all artwork is for sale.

From Kevin Egan of the Baileys Harbor Yacht Club: Segway Door County Tour - Any day of the week
Scroll down to check out their Baileys Harbor tour described here: Near Baileys Harbor town center, this glide along a State Certified Rustic Road offers beautiful views of Lake Michigan, Toft Point Nature Preserve, and the Ridges Sanctuary. Premier views of the Cana Island Lighthouse, the “Birdcage Lighthouse”, and the Ridges Rangelights are highlights of this tour. This fairly straight road turns onto a little used gravel road, where we take a break by the water before we head back. Nature is everywhere!

Eat here! Door County restaurants we like…

Kevin from the Baileys Harbor Yacht Club in Door County recommends the Cornerstone Pub in midtown Baileys Harbor. Kevin says:

The Baileys Harbor Cornerstone Pub is open year round, and has the “Longest Running Fish Fry in Door County.”  It is also a great place to watch any sporting event with 5 TV’s.

The Cornerstone features a fish fry every Wednesday and Friday. Check out their water based offerings:
