Door County performing arts – a bounty for all ages and tastes!

Door County has a rich history in the arts, both performing and visual. We have mentioned visual arts in this blog before, but have not touched on performing arts as of late. So here goes – whatever your age, whatever your preference in genre, Door County’s arts community has something for you. It is not too early to order tickets for any of the groups listed below.

Here are some of the players (o.k. that’s my pun in reference to the Peninsula Players) in the world of music and stage entertainment on the Door peninsula:

American Folklore Theatre
From the website of AFT comes the best description I have read of what they present to audiences:
In our little corner of the woods, those ominous rumblings about the Death of American Musical Theatre are drowned out by the footfalls of 40,000 loyal fans strolling down the path in Fish Creek’s Peninsula State Park each year to laugh and cry with our merry players under the newborn stars. Thousands more join us each season for our intimate Fall Season shows presented at historic Door County town halls.

Peninsula Players
From the website of the Peninsula Players:
The Peninsula Players has a history which is as captivating as the plays staged at the theatre during the past 74 years. And it began simply with “two planks and a passion.” Patrons returned year after year, drawn by the theatre’s tradition of providing exceptional professional productions of classic and contemporary literature. They are delighted by the talent of its acting company and the theatre’s serene location along the shores of Green Bay.
