Fish Creek, Door County = Hollywood, California for a night: Feed the Fish premieres at the Door Community Auditorium

There may be no Perez Hilton sightings in Fish Creek this Saturday night, but what you will see when director Mike Matzdorff premieres his first feature length film Feed the Fish, is a community beaming with pride.

Matzdorff filmed his movie using various locations in northern Door County (including the Jacksonport Polar Bear Plunge) as the backdrop for his story of a down-and-out children’s book author, Joe Peterson (played by Ross Partridge) who accepts a friends invitation to come to Wisconsin from California to get out of his funk. This low-budget, independent comedy features the very familiar face of  Emmy winning actor Tony Shalhoub as Door County’s Sheriff Andersen whose daughter Sif (played by Kathryn Aselton) gets involved with Peterson. The cast and crew included about 200 locals who may have had the most exciting winter of their Door County lives! “Everyone has been gracious and generous to us,” according to Green Bay native Matzdorff, who has been a regular visitor to Door County his whole life, “we wouldn’t be able to do it without their help.”

There are two screenings on Saturday, November 21, at 7PM and 9:15PM. Both are sold out but you can call the Door Community Auditorium at 868-2728 and get your name on their list. There were also a limited number of tickets available for a meet-and-greet reception with Shalhoub and Matzdorff at the English Inn following the first screening. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling the Door Community Auditorium, again, at 868-2728.

The producers of Feed the Fish are looking for a distribution company for the film, so be on the lookout for the addition of other venues.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the film from the innkeepers at Door County Inns & Resorts!
